Originally from Dortmund, Germany, I moved to Santa Monica, California for an internship with the People team at PatientPop. For my studies of Business Psychology in Germany, it is mandatory to do an internship abroad in the 5th semester, and I always knew that I wanted to come back to California since I really enjoyed my time in Los Angeles as an au pair two years ago.
On my first day, I was already amazed by the culture at PatientPop. Everyone is so friendly and inviting. You can tell people really love what they are doing. The first three days consisted of NEX, the “New Employee Experience,” which gave me a good insight about what PatientPop actually does and how each team contributes to the company’s success. I also loved getting to know the other new hires — we actually had monthly reunion lunches to catch up!
What I loved most about my internship at PatientPop was that I was trusted to take on projects that actually have an impact on the company. In addition to that, I was also given the opportunity to come up with my own ideas, and I felt like my input really mattered. In just four months, I created an emergency action plan for all five offices, organized a team volunteer event, supported the launch of a new HR system, and revamped our employee recognition program.
PatientPop really cares about its employees’ careers and sets us up with everything we need to reach your goals. I even had the opportunity to take a look at other departments and shadow different roles. As a current student, it was really valuable to learn about all different teams and how they work together in the business.
