Philanthropy and giving back to our community is an important part of the culture at PatientPop. While we have a lot of fun events and perks at our offices, the most important ones are the ones where we can combine servicing our community and growing stronger as a team. We make sure to not only have company-organized initiatives, but also support our employees and the charities most important to them. Philanthropy is a priority and we even provide two paid days off to all employees to volunteer at an organization of their choice.
When we heard about LA Tech Gives Back, we knew its “Day of Service” would be a perfect way for our #PatientPopPeople to spend time giving back to our city alongside fellow startups in the area. Silicon Valley Bank partnered with LA Works and a number of other local nonprofits to set up 8 service sites around LA. Our Volunteer Time Off benefit allows employees to participate in events like this that often take place during normal working hours. For this event alone, over 30 PatientPop employees participated!
Temescal Gateway Park
Many of us head to Temescal Gateway Park in the Palisades to enjoy a weekend hike, but there are many areas of the park that are in need of maintenance and restoration. PatientPop employees spent the morning removing debris, spreading soil, and planting new foliage and flowers along the trails.
Nora Sterry Elementary School
PatientPop employees built and painted “Buddy Benches,” cleared brush and gardened around the playground, and painted murals throughout the school’s campus. Seeing the finished product was great, but hearing the students’ excited reactions as they walked by made the day even better.
Two Bit Circus Foundation
Two Bit Circus Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to providing education and innovation opportunities to young children and students. One of our engineering team members spent the morning at their office downtown building a STEM workbench for middle and high schoolers.
