January fitness challenge

PatientPop kicked off 2019 with our January Fitness Challenge, a month-long competition that encouraged employees to get active! There’s no better way to bond with your coworkers quite like a jog to the beach, a yoga class at lunch or a boxing class during a hectic week. We’ve always made wellness a priority at work and a friendly competition was the perfect way to beat those New Year’s Resolutions.

Employees earned points for exercising in and out of the office and tracked them in our weekly leaderboard. Points were offered for numerous activities including; working out with a colleague, attending an onsite fitness class, meditating, participating in push-up club, among others.

Some of the amazing gyms that we partner with, including Exhale Spa, BoxUnion, Basecamp Fitness and PlateFit offered free classes for the challenge. It was a great opportunity for employees to exercise together and try new workouts they hadn’t done before. Derek Miu, Salesforce Admin says, “ I tried boxing, pilates, platefit, and barre for the first time thanks to the January Fitness Challenge.”

Challenge Winners

Our first place winner, Amy Schwab, won a $100 gift card (and bragging rights) for earning the most amount of points at the end of the month. Not only did she take advantage of all of our free classes and activities, she stepped outside of her comfort zone and met people from every department. “My favorite part was getting to know people across teams I wouldn’t normally work with. And that is priceless.” – Amy S., Implementation Manager

Our Customer Quality Assurance team won the challenge for Best Team Participation and will be getting a catered smoothie bar to celebrate!

Continuing the Participation

Competition aside, the challenge was a fun and encouraging way to promote wellness and community for our #PatientPopPeople. New friendships that were formed over a sweaty workout or a mindfulness class will continue into our work lives, helping connect employees across the org.
