PatientPop takes on Bike-to-Work Month

May was National Bike-to-Work Month and PatientPop was excited to partake in a movement that encouraged clean air initiatives and a healthy commute.

May was National Bike-to-Work Month, a month long challenge for people to leave their cars at home and opt for their bicycles for their daily commute.  Santa Monica City encouraged participation by providing days of free metro rides for bicyclists and hosting pit stops along popular bike routes.  PatientPop, being located in the heart of Santa Monica, was excited to partake in a movement that encouraged clean air initiatives and a healthy commute.

On both May 11th and May 18th, National and Santa Monica Bike-to-Work Day, we encouraged employees to join the movement and get cyclin’! PatientPoppers planned their path beforehand, stopped for coffee along the way, and enjoyed their ride through beautiful Santa Monica. The event was open to team members near and far – some employees rode the metro to SM and biked the rest of the way with the team!

Quite a few PatientPoppers regularly opt for their bike instead of car, so Bike-to-Work Month gave them the opportunity to enjoy their commute with others. It presented a fun and healthy way to start the day and be a part of something bigger. When your commute becomes just another part of the routine, it’s easy to overlook the enjoyment that could be had.

"I bike to work every day and it was so fun to participate in Bike to Work Day with my colleagues! I rode with members of other teams that I don’t get to interact with regularly, and I love that PatientPop motivates us to find healthy and eco-friendly ways to commute and reduce downtown SM traffic."

Sarah Brown, Customer Success Manager

Most employees take the same route to and from the office every single day, but by trading in their car for a bicycle, they got to see parts of Santa Monica they had never experienced. City Hall organized pit stops at local hidden gems that brought fellow bicyclists together for a rest, and freebies!

While Bike-to-Work Month is only officially recognized in May, our hope is that more people try out this healthy commute during the rest of the year. We sure had a lot of fun doing it and will be back again next May for more!
