Well it’s official, PatientPop has joined the Silicon Beach Sports League. Founded in 2015, the Silicon Beach Sports League is “the premiere sports league for startups in Los Angeles” which strives to “build startup culture through sports.” This summer we’re playing beach volleyball with high hopes of being crowned the 2017 Silicon Beach Volleyball Champions.
We play every Tuesday evening on the Beach in Santa Monica (a convenient two blocks from our office), and there are over 20 other startups participating in the league: Snapchat, Meltwater, Headspace, Hawke Media, Mucker Labs, Prodege, Five Four, uBeam, Pressed Juicery, Heal, Jam City, SnackNation, MomentFeed, Tinder, Inspire, M13, Mucker Capital, Atom Tickets, Skurt, MishMash, Kite Pharma, and Water Planet
Our team was founded by one of our Sales Development Representatives, Randy Schoch, in mid-May with one simple purpose: to get it over the net. Since its creation, the beach volleyball team has grown exponentially, and regularly plays pickup games after work in addition to the tournament. Although a maximum of 10 people can be in the rotation at a time, our team has a great crew of spectators — any and all are welcome regardless of experience!
There’s no doubt that our team stands out in our signature PatientPop green t-shirts, making us easy to find on the courts. In the league there are 4 divisions of 7 teams — each team will play the others in their division once. The winner of the match is the best of 3 sets played to 21 points, and the top 2 teams in each division will make the playoffs. Check out the season recap below to see how we played!

Here’s to a great group and to an amazing season, we’ll see you next summer.
